Best Green Beauty Foundations

Being in the green beauty world for almost five years now, I have pretty much tried every foundation out there. I have had many faves come and go and I am always adding to my personal faves but I wanted to do a more current blog post on my updated favorite foundations as I know choosing a new one can be so confusing! There are more options than ever, it seems, so I really wanted to break each of the options down to what stands out the most to me about each, as well as how much coverage they provide, their finish, staying power and their best application tips as no two foundations really apply the same!

Part of perfecting green beauty is really taking your time to learn the products and also having the patience to give each product the support it needs to ensure optimal performance is achieved. What lotion works best with one foundation may ruin another foundation so, hopefully, these tips will help you get the most from your green beauty foundations below!

If you need any help selecting a shade, please email us for a custom color match to info@theorganicbunny.com.

Crunchi-

The Crunchi Beautifully Flawless Foundation is our most popular foundation, even among those that do not like liquid foundation because it’s very lightweight and the coverage looks truly flawless. You can adjust the coverage amount by how much you apply so half a pump could be more of a light coverage where a full pump could add more for date nights etc! This foundation is best for those that like a more polished, clean and airbrushed foundation finish.

Finish- Medium coverage with a semi-matte, polished, flawless finish.

Shade- I am the shade 2.5 but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Apply With- The Crunchi lotion, then primer, applied with the Crunchi brush and set with the Crunchi powder if you are oily throughout the day.

Samples Available? They had sample cards but they are in the process of remaking them so not at this time.

Fitglow-

The Fitglow Vita Active Foundation is very different than the Crunchi foundation as it’s entire concept is combining skin care and makeup, all in one! This foundation provides very light and more natural coverage, almost like a tinted moisturizer and it is designed to sit directly on your skin without a primer. There are a ton of skincare benefits to this so this is a great option for those that want to improve their skin while enhancing, not covering it. This foundation can oxidize which means you should plan on it darkening a shade or two so if you are unsure on your shade, opt for one lighter as it will darken as it dries.

Apply With- This works best applied over moisturized skin, without a primer to get the skincare benefits and applied with the Fitglow Foundation Brush.

Finish- Lighter coverage with a semi-sheer, matte but luminous finish. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

Shade- I am the shade VF 1.5 but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Samples Available? Yes, free with any current order, simply leave a note on the shade you’d like to try and if we have it in stock, we can include this with your order.

Vapour-

Similar to Fitglow above, Vapour is a more dewy foundation with lots of skin nourishing benefits! I would say this provides a bit more coverage than the above Fitglow and it is meant to perform more like a true foundation with a medium amount of coverage. The Vapour comes in a stick or liquid form but both have a very dewy, moisturized finish. For me, I find the stick has a bit more coverage than the liquid which I like, I wear 117. These options work great on those with dry or mature skin or for anyone else that enjoys the above benefits! At 35, I am starting to get more and more into the stick option, it truly is so pretty on the skin!

Best Applied with- A standard foundation brush, the Crunchi brush or beauty blender.

Finish- Medium coverage with a dewy finish. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

100% Pure BB Cream-

The 100% Pure BB Cream product contains SPF15 and applies almost like a foundation with a nice, medium but dewy coverage. This is an amazing product and for sure the most coverage with SPF I carry but the downside is that it only comes in three shades which unfortunately excludes very fair and dark tones.

Apply With- This is pretty moisturizing so a heavy lotion or oil under may be overkill. If you have dry skin, a light lotion like Osmia is great. For oily skin, you could apply this direct to skin with clean hands, a standard foundation brush, or the Crunchi brush.

Finish- Medium coverage with a dewy finish and SPF15 benefits.

Shade- I am the shade 10 but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation-

This is 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation is one of my most popular options for a more matte finish. Matte means it will dry very powdery soft with no dewy look at all. People with oily skin enjoy a more matte finish to avoid being super oily throughout the day. This is a medium to full coverage foundation.

Apply With- A standard foundation brush, the Crunchi brush or beauty blender.

Finish- Medium to full coverage with a powdery finish. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

Shade- I am the shade White Peach but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Samples Available? Not at this time.

100% Pure Bamboo Blur Tinted Moisturizer-

This Bamboo Blur Tinted Moisturizer is a very lightweight option for those that want some coverage but not a ton. In my opinion, this is a light to medium coverage foundation that sits light on the skin and is great for those that want some coverage but with a more matte finish as I do not find this to be moisturizing at all. These do oxidize a bit once they dry so if you are between shades, pick lighter as it will darken up!

Apply With- Crunchi foundation brush.

Finish- Medium coverage with a matte finish. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

Shade- I am the shade White Peach but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Nu Evolution-

With a more unique and exotic color range, this Nu Evolution Complete Coverage Foundation is perfect for those that want a more medium to full coverage, matte finish foundation. This contains various skin calming ingredients so it’s a great option for those with oily, acne-prone skin that like more coverage from their foundations!

Apply With- A standard foundation brush, the Crunchi brush or beauty blender.

Finish- Medium to full coverage with a more powdery, matte finish. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

Shade- I am the shade 101 but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Samples Available? Not at this time.

Suntegrity SPF30 Tinted Moisturizer

This Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer is very accurately described as it provides a bit of color aka a tint, but with various skin moisturizing benefits! If you want a tinted moisturizer with a ton of coverage, this would not be your best bet as the coverage really is sheer to light, applying like a true tinted lotion in my opinion. This is best used as a tinted SPF, comes with a more dewy finish and can also be worn under foundation as a tinted primer with SPF protection!

Apply With- This can be applied as your daily moisturizer and primer all in one, nothing under is needed! Apply with clean hands or your Crunchi brush.

Finish- Sheer to light, moisturizing and dewy. To add coverage, I pair with the Fitglow concealer in C3.

Shade- I am the shade Light but it is a hair light so I warm up with Vapour 135 stick.

Samples Available? Yes, free with any current order, simply leave a note on the shade you’d like to try and if we have it in stock, we can include this with your order.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin SPF 30

For those looking for a bit more coverage from their SPF makeup, this Impeccable Skin by Suntegrity is an amazing option! This has a light to medium coverage with a satiny matte finish. I love this because it’s not too matte, not too dewy, the perfect in between, your skin but better and with a super clean, mineral SPF30.

Apply With- This is pretty moisturizing so a heavy lotion or oil under may be overkill. If you have dry skin, a light lotion like Osmia is great. For oily skin, you could apply this direct to skin with clean hands or your Crunchi brush.

Finish- Light to Medium coverage.

Foundation Cheat Sheet?

Still confused on which foundation is best for you? Here are some common skin types and their best-suited foundation types below!

Normal Skin- Any of the above!

Oily Skin- For those with more oily skin, a foundation with a matte finish is ideal! Your best options are the 100% Pure Healthy Fruit Pigmented Foundation, Bamboo Blur Tinted Moisturizer or the Nu Evolution as all three have a more matte finish. You can also prime your skin with a mattifying primer before and always be sure to apply oil-absorbing setting powder after to keep mid-afternoon shine away!

Dry or Mature Skin- For those with dry or mature skin, a foundation with a more dewy finish is nice as they do not accentuate fine lines or dry patches. Ideally, you want to treat your dry skin before makeup so if you are in need of a more hydrating skin care routine, shoot us an email below! The best foundations for this type is Vapour, Suntegrity, Fitglow, 100% Pure BB Cream or Crunchi.

Acne Prone- The best way to conceal blemishes is to spot treat with the very covering Hynt concealer first and then, any of the above options are great! That way, you get the coverage where needed, while still enjoying any of the above options.

Coverage Cheat Sheet!

Light Coverage- Crunchi half pump applied with the brush or Fitglow.

Medium Coverage- Crunchi, Vapour, 100% Pure BB, Impeccable Skin or Bamboo Blur.

  1. I think 100% pure does offer samples of the Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation and the Tinted Moisturizer now! In 4 packs, I believe =D

  2. You didn’t mention the 100% pure 2nd skin foundation. Curious about your thoughts on that one as well as the gressa serum foundation.

  3. Do you know where you can possibly buy Crunchi make-up in Canada? I’m desperate to get my hands on it!

  4. Hi Amanda! After reading this, the Suntegrity Tinted Moisturizer seems to be exactly what I am looking for! With coverage being sheer to light, would you said does it evens out skin tone and/or color corrects? Thank you!!!

    1. Yes it does! It’s very subtle though so it’s not covering just balancing! Check out the Redness Rescue Cream by FITGLOW that I carry for applying before to balance redness too!

  5. Hi Amanda! Trying to decide between Vapour stick or liquid, because I need something more dewy than Crunchi…I’m super dry and sensitive! Also what shade do you wear? We’re usually the same color in foundations! Thanks ?

  6. HI!
I would love to try the NU Evolution foundation as the description fits exactly what I am looking for. But I am extremely confused as to what color to choose. How would I go about picking one? Thanks!

  7. Hi, I noticed that on your product page for the 100% Pure BB cream you say that shade 20 Aglow is your perfect shade, but on this blogpost you say that you use shade 10 Luminous, so I’m just wondering which one you use (maybe you use the darker shade in summer?). Thanks!

  8. Hi there. What product do you find best for defining and filling in eyebrows? Also is it best to go with one shade lighter than your own brow color? Thanks. Valerie

  9. Hi!what about juice beauty? I got the tinted cc cream as I saw it was a 0 on think dirty – I like it!!

  10. I currently use Gressa and LOVE it, but have heard great things about the fitglow foundation you mentioned too. If you are able to try Gressa I’d love to hear your thoughts on the comparison of the two!

  11. Hi, I have been using Savvy Minerals makeup but I am not impressed. I used to always use Estee Lauder double wear foundation (Desert Beige color) and I was in love with it. Unfortunately I have a health condition and have had to cut out all chemicals in my life. I am looking for a liquid foundation that would be as close to the Estee Lauder foundation I can get. Which one would you recommend?

    Thanks!

  12. You mentioned using a mattifying primer if you have oily skin. I have oily skin and I am just recently switching over to green beauty. I have been searching for a mattifying primer, but I am having a hard time. The ones that I have found are the 100% pure and Jane Iredale. Do you have any other recommendations? Thank you!

  13. I use Suntegrity in Fair on my normal mature skin, but I’d like to find a stick with more coverage for evenings. I don’t need dewy because my skin is not oily, but it is not dry either, and has no dry patches. I see that you sell the Au Naturale line in your store. What do you think of their stick foundation? (I’ve tried Vapour and find it nice but maybe a bit too dewy.)

  14. For those foundations that do not contain SPF; what do you suggest for protection? Hynt Sun Prep under? Should this replace the AM moisturizer?
